The Wellston Coal Festival is held the Tuesday thru Saturday after Labor Day on the downtown streets to celebrate Wellston’s rich coal mining heritage. We offer an air conditioned motor coach tour of an actual working coal mine, a Karaoke Contest that pays $750.00 to the winner, Go-cart races, Lawnmower Races, Coal Miner Olympics, a Wednesday parade and a Saturday Grand Parade, Baby and Toddler Contests, Car and motorcycle Show, Youth Day activities, line dancing, Free entertainment nightly featuring popular Nashville entertainers.
